I know its not a boat but a few have expressed an interest in seeing some pics of the truck Im building
Its a Tamiya King Hauler Metallics special
Ive just finished building the chassis and fitting the Electrics, shes running but the wiring needs tidying up before I fit the body and the lighting (another rats nest of wires lol)
Ive upgraded the bearings to ballraces all round, the gearbox has all metal gears now and the wheels are aftermarket Machined alloy.
Further upgrades will be a Carson Truck motor (Max Rpm 6500 so gives better scale speeds than the std tamiya 540.
The body Is awaiting painting as the chrome body is a bit much. this will be sprayed with tamiya clear smoke or clear red, I need to do some testing to see what looks better
Here are the pics

Multifunction unit (Sounds Lights and ESC) sitting on top of vibration unit using servo taper as per the instructions. Chingdevil has made a bracket for me to overcome this Heath Robinson Issue

It was a very straightforwad build the hardest part was trying to get the little tiny E clips onto the gearbox shafts!
As always the Tamiya instructions are spot on and simple to follow. Many Models ship manufacturers could do well to have a read of a few Tamiya instruction manuals before writing theirs
It was nice and tidy till I fitted the MFU

Looks great! :-))
What's the sound unit?

looks good , brings back the memories of the farm we used to store the yard overspill in , a farm that had a very nice black full sized tractor unit in storeage , the farmer uses a few peterbiults as his choice trucks !

I love scale me, I really do. That looks really good. Did I miss it or did you say what scale it is, 1\10th perhaps?
I think in Germany, they have big RC Truck competitions driving around courses, reversing and the like. Those trucks dont go very fast IIRC, a slow walking pace.

The sale is 1/14th but it comes out a little larger than a 1/10th RC car, but weighs in at quite a lot more.
With the standard motor its quite quick so I am changing it for a carson truck motor (6500rpm max) to give a more petotypical acceleration and top speed
The Billings Phantom I'm Building is 1/15th so Im considering a trailer with fittings so the boat can go on the back :)

Here's some from the Hoylake MBC on one of their open days

Just noticed this thread...
I built one of these last year and its really good fun, expensive but great fun. It's the Scania R620 6x4 with fully working lights and sounds etc and a semi-trailer.
Ive painted it Blue with Red skirting and side skirts etc. If i can dig out some pics i'll stick em up. :-)) :}
