Post by: 6705russell on September 05, 2010, 07:45:48 pm
As anyone set up twin Voith drives in a boat, ie. what sevos on what transmitter stick?  I took mine out for sea trials this morning but could only get it going forwards and backwards?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

You've started out with four servos haven't you, two for each drive?

Is this the Voith Schottel drive.

If it is this might help.

Thanks Dicky

That tells me i should have the four servos on seperate channels, at the moment i have the x-axis servos on a y-lead and the y-axis servos on a y-lead, maybe thats where i am going wrong?

The servos on the x axis will provide fwd and rev
The servos on the y axis will provide "rudder" turning control.

I ganged the rudder control servos, but kept separate controls for fwd/rev on each drive.

Hi Umi

So have i got them set up so they are acting against each other as such?

Thanks

Yeah, probably...

You may have managed to get the fwd/rev controls proper, but
the left drive may be thrusting left, and right drive may be
thrusting right or visa versa and the result is FWD/REV only.
