The old lady is being ripped apart for scrap.
No chance of it being restored

The campaigners vow to rebuild this paddler from pieces after the demolition. I wonder who is putting up a business case for them? Like so many preservation tasks, a great idea but when it comes to investing hard earned cash, I doubt any hope for this one. P.S Waverley is short of cash, the Medway Queen is having a new hull but struggling for the cash for the completion of the rebuild, to name a couple of examples.

Let the demoliition contractor carry on with his work, or am I being too pessimistic?

Totally unrealistic. It's noticeable that many of these well meaning preservation groups have no appreciation of the economic reality of the situation and that is why they fail, time after time.

If a ship is to be preserved than it has to happen almost immediately after it has been taken out of service and with a very sound buisiness case. Otherwise you are just on to a hiding for nothing. Sad but true.

Very sad photos, but they do demonstrate the state she was in.

Would have made a nice static display in a museum somewhere.
