Title: Windows 7 x 64 bit + Adobe Flash Player + YouTube
Post by: derekwarner on October 02, 2010, 04:25:50 am
 >>:-( Hi..........

My system as above has suddenly stopped  :police: me viewing any YouTube attachments or down loads

It is not a Microsoft issue, but an Adobe glitch that does not recognise 64 bit applications ......Adobe suggest.......

1. delete your previous Adobe software
2. install a 32 bit version of their flash player from their WEB site & all will be OK....but I cannot get it to work.......... >>:-( >:-o :(( {:-{ <:( ...

My system had been functional for the past 6 months [since purchased] so suspect an AUTO upgrade/download has killed the functionality..........

Any thoughts greatly appreciated......... :o Derek

If you go into the add/remove programme section of the computer and tick the Show updates tag,you should be able to find the offending update, and remove the same. If that doesn't do the trick, then I'm stumped.

try viewing via windows media player, I didn't think 32bit programs would funcion on a 64bit system anyway ?, go in to properties and change mediaplayer to default player.
I have just built a new system for windows seven with a SSD drive and it flies, it loaded a full copy off seven in 12 min to removing disk and using and starts up from cold in 11 seconds, I have 7 on a net book and was not very impressed it seems a different beast on my desk top except for the fact you have to unlock a lot of things.

32 bit programmes run on 64 bit PCs, 32 bit drivers don't. There are in fact very few 64 bit programmes out there!

Also may be worth uninstalling all your JAVA versions and reinstalling those.

Do you use Firefox as well as IE?
Do you have the same problem in both browsers?

Hi, I am running 64bit vista and have had similar problems. One thing I have found helpful is moving applications to a different destination. Windows puts 64 bit programmes into "programme files" whereas it puts 32 bit programmes into a different default location called "programme files X86". I have had several programmes not work correctly, and they have all worked properly when reinstalled into a location in "my documents". I don't know why this works, but I know my pc would not work properly and kept freezing till I did a destructive reinstall and turned off ALL auto updates. it is now running perfectly.

I think 50% of the programmes are 64bit on my pc.

Derek,

For what it is worth, sometimes it is possible to restore your PC to a previous restore point which will correct the issue and the reject the next update.

From experience and advice of Gurus,  I now never alllow any auto updates only notifications then I choose which to download, if in doubt I don't.
