Some years ago Many years ago the Royal Navy had a fleet of narrow boats which looked like warships, including a sub, They used to attend rallies for publicity/recruiting.

Cleopatra - a Leander Class Frigate
Renown - A ballistic missile submarine
London - a guided missile destroyer
Sheffield - a type 42 destroyer

Msybe not quite. It's not rolling down a hill with old fellas in it, their screams drowned out by a post-production laughter track and inevitable brass band music.  %)

Aye, and I bet the fishermen still chuck their lines at it and leave them in the water until the last moment and then shout at him and glare lat him because he shouldn't be there!!!

Sorry for the rant- canal and river fishermen and myself have had many a cross word bandied- through no fault of my own other than floating on the bit of water they feel they have to hide in a green tent all day next to so no-one sees the copious amounts of lager they drink!

Yes i'll be careful as I step down from Mayhem's soapbox- it's got a shine on it at the moment!

I read that the conversion of the narrow boat cost £50 000.

I liked the comment from a reader in The Sun - "Not so much U Boat as U Berk!"
