Title: Model boat plans
Post by: flybobby on February 06, 2007, 09:06:25 pm
Anyone know where I could get plans for this vessel (only need deck up).  Its an Island Class patrol boat used by the US Coastguard.  Have been trawling and dredging the internet with no luck!!  The US Coastguard had 49 of these in operation, and there are plenty of photos and stats online, so there must be plans around somewhere?! ??? ::)

Have you tried the USCG?

Administrative Services Section
Naval Engineering Division
Coast Guard Yard Building 27
2401 Hawkins Point
Baltimore MD 21226

This is for Commissioned cutters. If it is decommissioned I have another address just let me know. The plans are usually free including postage. Just tell them what scale you are building.

The Island Class cutters used by the US Coastguard are essentially the same as the UK Customs cutter Sentinel (although they have much better engines - but that's another story......). They were built under license from Vosper-Thorneycroft. VT's customer liaison people are legendary for being helpful to boat modellers, so you might start there with your research. Sounds like Tug Man is also on the case, so good luck.
