Not too sure if I have posted this in the right section but at the lake on Sunday my model of the Talacre started out well as usual. But after about 20 mins the motor stopped continual running and instead I had a few revs in reverse then stop and again a few revs in reverse and so on. This happened irrespective of the stick postion.
When out of the water I took a look inside and found that the receiver - which is a Futaba R606fs 2.4ghz - was flashing between red and green even though the TX was constantly showing that it was paired.
Any ideas as to what the problem can be?

Did you check the Rx battery?

Thanks Barrie but it's running BEC so no RX battery.

I would think that it was more likely to be your TX batteries than anything else, either that or the ESC is telling you that it's on the way out.

So did you check the drive battery? The Bec needs at least 5volts to operate, and if the motors were taking a lot of current that may drop the voltage below 5v.

Hello, Make sure that your aerial is fully extended out of the boat. This happened to me & it took a while to suss it out, it is worth a try, Nemesis

Thanks all.
The TX batteries were fully charged and showing 10.7v on the TX.
I didn't check the drive battery other than give it a full charge overnight. It's failry new and has always been used in the same boat.
I will put another ESC on and see if that cures it but I was looking through the Futaba handbook re "pairing" and it does say:-
If the red and grenn lights turn on alternately then there is an unrecoverable failure (EEPROM,etc). Not sure what this means but could I try to link again or does it mean that the RX has totally failed?
Thanks

If the red and grenn lights turn on alternately then there is an unrecoverable failure (EEPROM,etc). Not sure what this means
Unrecoverable failure = broken, not mendable.
If its a sealed piece of hardware and one of the internal components has died, its all died. If access is possible to the components, repair might be an option, but would probably cost more than a complete replacement.
The EEPROM is the Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory.
Could be that it just needs to be re-bound to start over again, it could be really broken.

I have now even changed from Futaba to Spektrum RX and TX - no difference. Also changed to brand new ESC - no change.
It's beginning to drive me mad. Other than changing everything incl motor I don't know what to do next - other than phone the Samaritans.

Hi Cyril
If it fails to work on the bench then you are in the right place to analyse the fault.
Have you tried a new (different) motor with the Spektrum ?

Hi Cyril, sounds like its your drive battery dropping below 5 volts & cutting out the bec, is there anyway you can try a separate Rx batt ? You didn't say what voltage your main battery is, but i am suspecting its 6 volt. BEC's cam give lots of trouble using 6 volts, especially if the battery is a SLA, as they don't like giving out too many amps.
I had the same problem with my swordsman. Although the battery pack charged up OK & showed good voltage on the multimeter, the pack was duff & changing it cured the problem.
Cheers Glenn
