Hi everyone, I have been into rc cars for about 15 years and have recently decided to have a change of scenery. I bought this boat a while back as an unfinished project. It requires plenty of work I think. Can anyone tell me what size motor to run. Also how would I go about sealing the boat. It is just over 2ft long. Im planning to paint the hull white but want to use some kind of planking on the top, varnished. What sort if nicad would be best, I have plenty of 7.2v stick packs and will run an mtroniks eco speedo. On the propshaft front, It has an outer shaft running through to the outside but that looks like it would leak like a sieve, would filling around it with epoxy be good enough? Sorry for my total lack of knowledge but as i say, im a complete beginner.

One of your old standard car motor will do or a small brushless Look hear Part way down http://modelfireboats.com/videogallery/ there is one with a giant cod motor for under £5 and it goes well
out of interest What type of cars did you do( Scale)

that blue outer shaft looks like an old ripmax item , ive just replaced the one in my aerokits launch , ive now used an m4 one from marks model bits , newport , which happens to be about the same outer diameter so you dont need to open out the original shaft hole through the hull , as hs93 has already pointed out one of your buggy type motors will make it work quite well , along with the battery packs that you have too !

Thanks for the replies guys, I used to race 1/10th off road back in the early 90s through to the early 2000s. Over the last couple of years i tried to get back into racing but the off road scene seems to have virtualy dissapeared, hence a new direction in rc models. I did do some vintage rc car restoration for a while, but they become unusable because its so hard to get parts. I dont like to see rc stuff confined to a shelf!! Can anyone tell me what size propellor i will need and what I should use to seal this boat inside and out. Have I got this right hat zpoxy is a good sealant for the exterior??
