Title: Inverter on fuel engine model boat
Post by: Lagaffe on November 23, 2010, 09:09:41 am
It looks like this, inverter on the left and magnetic clutch on the right (can be replaced by centrifugal clutch)

How does it work ?

A Lagaffe production

REverser? Could be a differential type, or an epicyclic gearbox. It looks like a home made one, so you would have to see inside to find out how and if it works.

"IF" it works ????
Of course it does ! I have two of them in my last Riva Aquarama scale 1/3.5
Now, if you want to explain how it works, it is no so simple. This is the first time I draw a mechanical system, and understand how it works later.
You can reverse at any engine speed if you have a centrifugal clutch instead of a magnetic clutch.
With a magnetic clutch you need a special electronic circuit to raise voltage slowly (so that the motor does not stop), and a switch to disable the clutch when throttle = 0
