Title: Sailing coble
Post by: MCR on February 15, 2007, 07:19:47 pm
I could not resist this hull when I saw it but I just had to make it a sailing coble.
Using the drop keel from my Thames barge it sails well.I just need to add a crew member or two along with a dozen lobster pots.

What sail controls do you have?

I'm so hooked on scale sail that I have sold all of my power boats, it gets under the skin. The main sail is controlled via a sail winch hidden under fishing boxes.

Any chance of some pics of the inside of the hull and some detailing please

Did you buy the hull on e bay perhaps from a guy in the NE?........if yes, then like TigerTiger I would be interested in a shot of the working bits.

Nice boat

Hi  The hull is from a guy in the NE but I purchased direct not fro EBay .
The following photos show the inside. After a lot of plastic padding and sanding down I fitted the ribs using a profile gauge one rib at a time!
Sail control is via the sail winch under the fish boxes the tension is maintained by the elastic string (black line on the photo).

Ace looking boat mate, have seen this hull from time to time and thought it looked quite cool.

There were a few adverse comments about this guy, but I saw this hull and thought I can't think of anyone else that produces a hull like this, so who's he ripping off????

I'm seriously thinking about this now as a project as I really like the trad stuff ( I live in the EY ) and why should the SW lot have it all thier own way!!.

I might get back to you at a later date if that's ok, I have a couple of projects on the go including a kitchen overhaul that could take some time, but it's definately one for the list.
