Nice one! :-)) She's gonna be massive in 1 \ 10th! At first I thought it was a speedline kit but Adrian doesnt do one in that size to my knowledge. Is it scratch?
Happy Chrimbo!

Hi justboatonic
yes its all scratch built she's 1.4m long and weighs 56lb . I have a video of it self righting and first sea trials which i will post on youtube soon

Thanks for the invite but i only get 20 minutes running from a pair of 6000mah 4 cell lipo's . I would need a lot of lipo's to cover that distance %%

it certainly ain't going to be a race up the loch ssstoney...put some lower revving motors, high amp batteries for the long haul and bob's yer uncle...come and join in, lol

What have you painted the deck with to get the textured look?
Regards,
Chris
-
Hi Chris
I sprinkled fine sand on to wet paint then tipped deck upside down to remove excess, left it to dry then gave it 4 coats of paint

neil.
-
Thanks Neil
I was well pleased with how it went. Also I must say that no models were hurt during the making of these films %)
Paul
-
Very impressive, I'm glad nothing got damaged when some of those waves came over her. I wouldn't fancy doing it with mine, look forward to seeing more soon. Dave. :-))
-
O0...Paul....that footage is absolutely brilliant :-)) ...just like a real lifeboat vessel
In OZ we say goooooooooooooooooo beyond the breakers & you did that with some good off shore water bound photographers :embarrassed:
About the 2:42 mark we also see the vessel surfing back in.........
If you ever venture to OZ.......we can teach you to surf........... {-) >>:-( .......brilliant ........Derek
-
you'll have to teach us how to drink ice cold beer from middies and schooners first derek, {-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-)
-
Paul ..... %) ...did she run out of puff @ the 6.00 minute mark?...... >>:-(
-
That one could do the Loch Ness run I reckon. :}
-
What a boat, brilliant! The first Video had me holding my breath at several points. Would you spare the time to share with us the motor/ esc/ battery set up you have used as I'm using rewound scooter motors running on 36v and there is so much inefficiency in the drive chain that they don't last very long. I know that the technology powering your boat is far superior, but to be honest I don't understand it.
Many thanks
Paul.

Aye, if mad enough to try... O0 {-) O0

I think it's your turn to organise one Duncan, lol................???
-
Thanks for the comments guys
Would you spare the time to share with us the motor/ esc/ battery set up you have used
The motors are brushless outrunners 5055 580kv, the esc are Turnigy 180amp and I use two 4 cell 6ah lipo batteries one for each motor. When running her at the local pond the lipo's last about 30 minutes at a sensible speed %%. The 12v gell cell is for the sound system, bilge alarm and cooling pump.
Paul ..... %) ...did she run out of puff @ the 6.00 minute mark?...... >>:-(
I got about 20 minutes running from two sets of lipo's, the video was shortend.

hi stoney
do the motors you have used have an 8mm shaft? if so where do u get the couplings from?
i have a tornado thumper 5055 motor with an 8mm shaft for my cygnus cyclone model and haven't yet found a coupling big enough.
thanks
-
WHAT A MODEL! the best video footage of a model I've ever seen, fantastic. A real credit to you and the hobby Paul, lovely build and to sail like that shows the accuracy and skill of the build, am well impressed. B----y marvellous.
Regards, Tony.

Hi all
after the sudden death of my dad in November I've finally been in the right frame of mind to start the Trent again. A Few photo's of recent progress
Paul
-
Hi Paul,
Sorry to hear about your father, it must be difficult.
On a happier note, the model is looking very nice indeed and I look forward to seeing more updates
Dan
-
Hi Dan
It has been a difficult time, not only was he my dad but I also worked for him in his building firm ,work dried up after his death but things have picked up a bit lately.

Good evening all
A job that I've been thinking about for some time now and kept putting off was the fendering. After some trial and error with moulding my own which wasn't successful I decided
to make it out of plywood. A few pictures of how I made them, turned out pretty good me thinks, still a few more to make yet
Paul
-
amazing construction..well done that man.......superb. :-)) :-))
neil.
-
I second that!
Dan
-
That looks amazing, very nice work
-
Thanks guys :-) still on with the fendering its been a bit more complicated than I anticipated
Paul
-
Can you not use the fenders you made to make a mould and use black rubber/silicone?
Dan
-
Greetings All
Progress on the Trent has been very slow, I've finally got the fendering finished and a couple more bits and pieces done.
Paul
-
Brilliant Paul, just brilliant. :-))
