Title: Simple furniture plans/projects
Post by: tigertiger on January 02, 2011, 02:26:33 am
I am looking for a Website with plans for simple carpentry projects. Preferably with free plans, or I can pay if the site is really good.

Or any recommendations for any good books with lots of plans. Typically kitchen tables, sideboards, benches. I can work up from there.
I have moved into a new house that needs lots of stuff, I would rather make than buy.

I have a circular saw and can access a radial saw easily. I did woodwork/shop in high school and can remember a lot of basic skills.

I have tried to Google but I have yet to find anything suitable.

Any help appreciated.

Happy New Year
TT

its going to make you laugh or groan when you see the name of the site, but it has plenty of free plans on it, some in pdf format, you just have to work your way through the adverts.
Hope its of use

Hmm, is this a veiled effort to obtain western designs for the Chinese mainland manufacturing industries to flood the market with copies of Yukea and Miffy look alike flap-pack furniture?????   {-)

If you look on most woodworking sites TT there is usually a plan area with downloads, you may have to sign on though. there seem to be a few in the "CAD" sections of them aswel.

  Regards  Ian.

Cheers chaps. :-))
I shall start digging.
Now I need to find some woodworking sites. 8)

No need for the Chinese to copy plans. To  be honest, the quality of the Chinese furniture is far higher than you see in most UK outlets. :D
Even the flat-pack stuff is high quality. Half the price, and in with the price a guy from the factory will deliver and assemble. And if you slip him a couple of quid he will even move furniture around and take old stuff away. :-))

I could probably get custom made furniture for less than it would cost me to make, but where is the fun in that.
And yes you can go to the furniture factory and they will stretch/squash any existing design they do, for a small fee. But I wanna play chippy  %)

Hobbys ltd, both of them, one in Norfolk and the other in London have plans for model and full sized furniture, go to their websites, the Catalogues are there.

Does anyone know of a link to free plans for workbenches etc.
Lots of the plans I can find are not free, and hardcopy + postage to China.

I have trawled through the freeplans link and can only find ads for pay for plans. Am I doing something wrong?
