Title: Tyne class lifeboat
Post by: terryyacht on January 03, 2011, 08:49:43 pm
Hi
Looking for detail photos of deckhouses and walkaround details for Tyne class lifeboat .
Have a 1/20th scale hull kit part complete but no drawings or photo detail.
Model is based on Padstow Lifeboat James Burrough
Thanks

Some pictures of Cromer's old Tyne Class in the gallery on Mayhem home page. Should've posted in 'Lifeboats' section. Plenty on here have built Tynes, my mates built a 1/12 scale one. If you know which station you want to build, I'd conatct them as no two boats are exactly the same. Cheers, Dave.  :-))

Thanks again.

I notice the Cromer lifeboat is red below the waterline.
I was told all slipway lifeboats were painted white below the waterline.
Which is correct

I think there were some issues with the white paint coming off the hull at one time

Hi again, there have been a few issues with the white paint not sticking properly. The Tynes that are moored instead of slipway launched have the red anti-fouling paint. I also think the reserve boats have the anti-fouling paint as they could end up anywhere. The Padstow Tyne 47-003 James Burrough was all white below the waterline. The first Tamars are red below waterline due to paint problems, think it's been sorted and they'll be white from now on for slipway launched ones. Have put a few more pictures below that may be of some use, cheers, Dave.  :-))

Thanks very much for information and photos.

No problem. One of the pictures didn't come out properly so done it again. You'll have to post some pics of your build when done, cheers, Dave.  :-))
