hi all, my type 45 is nearing completion now and im needing help with the fittings. of course, theres not actually very much on the outside of a type 45 but i would like the lifeboad canister type things (i dont know what these are actually called! and maybe some watertight doors. does anyone know where i could get such in this scale? all replys gratefully recieved. Hi Dunk
I've waded through Google and numerous model and hobby shops with no luck whatsoever. Sorry.

If you are really stuck it shouldn't be too difficult to make liferaft canisters and watertight doors yourself. Some dowel turned in an electric drill for the former, with bands suggested by wire and plastic card and wire for the latter.

thanks guys for that. my dad has scratch built the phalanx and oerlicon guns and the look quite good (if i may say so myself) but its the mundaneness and repetition that puts me off the doors and canisters! maybe im just lazy. we were thinkin about making transfers for the doors but i dont know if the scale is small enough to make this option viable, what do the two admirals think?
-
I agree repetition can be a pain but if you get the technique right it takes less time than you might think. Mind you, that's why I don't build warships!

There just isnt the call for 1/144 fittings, so none are produced.

My mate built HMS Avenger in 1/144th for the liferaft cannisters try TIC TAC mints varnished and detail lined with a fine ink pen, Sounds crap but it works well
