I'm thinking of buying the Model Slipway's Rescue boat for my son, but I'm looking at the RNLI liscenced Severn class as a RTR alternative.
Has anyone modified the Severn class lifeboat to take proper R/C gear?
Could you advise on the progress / outcome.
Thanks in advance.

try there.
YOu might get tempted by the speedline severn he's building too though!

Don't mention the Speedline kit.........................the financial manager has already put the dampners on that one!!
Who needs a new kitchen anyway? I can still burn toast in the one we have!!

Have you gone for the traditional look, or something more modern?
Hope you left room forthe dishwasher!!!! ;D ;D ;D

CK, i did this conversion and sailed the model at Southport Lifeboat rally last year. I have done an article for Model Boats which John tells me will be out later this year. If you want to crack on with one before then, drop me your email address and I'll send you some details.

Hi
Just visited Hobby Zone in Holborn this afternoon and found that the Severn was reduced by ?20.00. The guy in the shop said that they were selling at that price in all the shops.
Now selling at ?29.99, better than buying off ebay.
Better get one while they are still there !!!!

Anyone know what 27MHz frequency the RTR boat uses. I've just got one for the better half to play with while I sail my tugs, but want to avoid frequency clashes. All it says on mine is '27 MHz 1-01 47'

One used on our pond wouldn't work if anybody esle was on 27.

Thanks Doug, sounds like the rx filter is as wide as a barn door then. I'll see what happens with some of my other 27MHz tx's before we go to the lake tomorrow.

Hello all, got one as a surprise present for my birthday yesterday. Nothing else for it now but to dig out the article on the conversion and get on with it. Had to have a go in the bath with it yesterday and I was surprised at how well it went, even more so in astern. Many smiles to you all, now you know you want one --- go and get one.
cheers

have a look at my build thread on the baby severn as ive converted mine to full rc.
just a word of warning the white motor pods are not completely sealed, from experiance when i first got mine the motors need to be run for a minute or two after you get it out the water just to expel any water left and stop them from sticking.
