Just been along to my local scrap yard and asked abouta windscreen washer pump the guy wanted fifteen pounds for it, I did not take up his offer, am I being optimistic here or is that the going rate? when I have seen other posts for similar (submarine usable) pumps they were around a tenner. By the way he said they were around 45 pounds new.

that seems like a hell of a lot of money, - you can buy them new online for less,
and if you get to the region of £45 for a new one ( as alledged by the scrap yoard) that puts you in to new peristaltic pump terratories - far better in my opinion for a model sub... i have two peristaltic pump subs, the pump units have never givemn me an ounce of trouble, - the windscreen washer pumps are not a reliable as they are not designed for long periods of pumping but will still last a fair while in a model.....

i went down to my local scrap yard got a pump and all the tubeing for my fire boat grand price of £3 was yours out of a R R
-
And I got a couple from a boot sale for the same sort of money (less than £3).

thanks to all, I will check out the boot sale on Sunday, where can I buy the perestaltic pump from?

I would recommend these red plastic windscreen washer pumps for submarines available on eBay.
They were originally suggested by Andy L (Subculture) and have been on "long term test", see below:
