Title: Greek tug Doxa
Post by: swordfish fairey on April 23, 2011, 08:54:41 pm
Just had my new build in the water for the first time. She is a representation of a British built Greek Tug. I used a Mobile Marine Lady Jan as the basis for it. She is powered by an MFA 800 motor at 12v with a Graupner radio and E-Bay Chinese ESC. Painted up to represent a tug used by the Chandris Shipping line based at Piraeus. She weighs in at 14.5Kgs. Not quite finished, I've got to get a move on for Shepton Mallet show next weekend......cheers......Tony

Great model.  I thought the weathering is some of the best I have seen - You have to look twice to see it has been weathered
if you know what I mean.

That really is nice Tony. I especially like the riveting as I've tried this and it aint easy.

Hope to be down to Shepton show this weekend and will look you up.  :-))

I normally don't like tugs as thats all I see on my local pond and most are naff %), and I'm more into warships.....but the weathering on this little beauty is great -had to look at the first photo twice to see if it was the real ship  :-))

Cheers cloggie for your nice comments. Finished her just before Shepton Mallet show and took her down to the club lake this afternoon and she had a play with Danny's (tolnedra) Atlantic tug. All I need now is a bit of smoke.......cheers.....Tony

A very beautiful model indeed, Tony. :-))
As already the others commented, the weathering is done great, as well as the rivets on the hull.
If it was a different background on the photos it would have been taken for a real size tug.
