Title: Pond Diorama

Hi

Whilst taking down a greenhouse yesterday (for my new big shed) I stopped for a coffee. I spent 5 minutes blankly gazing at my old pond (I built a beter one) and as life came back into focus. A thought came to me that the cut stone caps actually look like a dock - and I had been looking at a diorama recently........... Easy to put a dock shed/buildings down on side....... mmm. Anyone done this? Know of any pics? I'm off to the tip now and will look in later.

The late Harold Underwood built some superb dioramas...one that stands out was a wonderful one of a large warship in drydock. I imagine his works are published somewhere. BY.

you wanna make a diorama in your back garden!!!......have a look at Alan's harbour that he's built in ireland.......it is just unbelievable.......a whole fleet of them, wagons street lighting, even the local lifeboat..great builder and fantasticly done.....i wish i had a wife as understanding, lol

Well done that man. I wonder how many hours went into that lot?

My wife's ok about most things I do - cos mostly I do as I'm told - ha ha. I have a master plan - my wife hates mowing the lawn and over the years I have eaten into it with sheds, summer house, wendy house, two ponds, etc etc without any complaint - and now theres not much left but she still hates mowing it. A third pond with a canal to my old pond would see it off. I went to Mousehole in Cornwall once that was a nice little harbour if I remember rightly - I'll look it up later.

If I did it I would have to ask about scale, maybe fishing boats, small tug, small coastal freighter- using the water level to the top of the stone as some sort of benchmark to about deck level - 6 -8" I think it is. Any thoughts on scale so everything looks right?

i think 1;32 scale would be a good one, just as alan made his.....plenty of boats of that scale and fittings around for you to go at. good luck and keep us posted
