Title: Reference sources for Type vii
Post by: g4yvm on June 16, 2011, 01:52:21 pm
Any tips on good reference material for Type vii?

Ive found the DVD on Uboat aces, but havent ordered it yet, also a plastic model might be useful.  Ive bought ~Stern's book but not the book "anatomy of the ship" by Westwood.

What do Type vii-ers recommend?

I have the Stern book and the Anatomy of the Ship book, both very useful. I have a Polish book whose name escapes me at present, with excellent artists impressions for colour schemes plus dual English/Polish text, Also U-Boats , On Hostile Shores ( I think) has some good reference in it. Also, you cannot build a Type VII without a copy of Das Boot!

The gold standard if you building a scale model is the Type VIIc from the Von Orginal Zum Model series by Fritz Kholl. Has builders plans in the back but scalled down. But they also sell the plans separately in 1/40 scale From Amzon.de, or if you just want the book them WhiteEsign models sell it.
