Was it high wind or mechanical failure ?
-
Possibly wind, is the current theory. The story is here (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/sep/7/crane-falls-washington-national-cathedral/).
Question to those in the know!
Presumably you'd have to draw in the elements before righting the truck. Would something like this be able to be used again?

Oh yes, that is definitely repairable, when you think of the massive cost of a new one. Bet the driver got a nasty shock! The octagonal house to the left was soooooo lucky!!!

This is a bad day for me....
"Martin, can tell us why the Fax machine isn't working please?"
-
That machine would of cost about £2m brand new and weighs about 100t
In it's transport form (no ballast or extra jibs)
Looking at it I think someone tried to cut corners as it isn't fully ballasted
With an extension jib

Showed that pic to the missus and she said with a smirk on her face "that was a bit silly wasn't it" as if the poor operator did it on purpose.....
