Title: Cap guns
Post by: brianB6 on September 09, 2011, 08:46:46 am
Has anyone converted a cap gun to work on radio control for sound effects?
I bought a plastic one with plastic "ring" to hold 8 caps from our local supermarket fo $2.99. 198 Refills for $1.99
Makes a nice loud bang.  %%

The trigger mechanism and spring is quite strong so a powerful high torque servo would be required

A worm and wheel would supply the neccessary pull. No doubt our guru from the sub continent will be able to show you how.

Standard Futaba S3003's have a higher torque rating than you think, I bet you one would pull a trigger on a cap gun.

Thing is though, with a geared motor on a cam you could have auto firing, say a highly geared motor for the main guns, and a low geared motor for the machine guns / AA

You're underpaid at £2 per week as Mr Windless says O0 O0 O0

Thanks everyone
I think I will try Andy's idea of a geared motor driving a cam first.   Our local electronics store has a cheap motor with variable gears to start the experiment.
If it works then I can connect it to one of "Mr.Action mans" electronic switches.
The 25 mm. Bushmaster gun on the Armidale Patrol Boats can fire at up to 180 rounds per minute but that might be a bit to fast.  %%
It can also be fired one shot at a time which would be much more effective. (for frightening the natives?  {-)) (I sail near a retirement village so I will have to guage the reaction if it is too noisy  >>:-()
