The restoration of the above vessel has received a setback, the HLF have refused the project a £2.8million bid.

That is sad news but you only have to look at the Cervia in Ramsgate she is suffering the same fate, this country seems to have no interest in preserving our maritime heritage, if you wanted to paint a picture on a wall you would get the money!!!!!! <*< <*< >>:-( >>:-(

Recently (maybe still) Liverpool had http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0100news/0100regionalnews/tm_headline=city--8217-s-new-room-with-a-view----but-is-it-art-&method=full&objectid=19259774&siteid=50061-name_page.html at £450,000. I just couldn't see the point of it at all. Nor can I appreciate the artistic content of an
unmade bed. http://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/artists/artpages/tracey_emin_my_bed.htm I do like some modern art though
There is usually both the artistic and the artisan to be appreciated in the products of our history, solid things that have several worthy areas to explore for generations to
come. But I can't say which historical project is worthier than another and certainly there isn't the money to subscribe to them all.

It is sad to see so many vessels needing work.Because of the very nature of what they are. The cost of maintaing them is high. The Medway queen is being rebuilt, but in this case little of the origanal boat survives. Sadly we have little money for these projects. But the money can be found privately for a new boat for Queenie and her family to junket on. Just watch her family take advantage of this. 60 million would preserve a lot of origanal boats. John.

Oh come on ,dont you see the benifits of this .it would give a lot of work to some shipyard therefore keeping the trades knowledge and training up some people ,what happens when she is built ,and paid for by the Royal purse ,is bound to be good for British shipbuilders . Yes .
