Just wanted you to know I am following your ‘Natterer’ thread very carefully, and have ordered a waterproof keyboard. I didn't want to break up the continuity of your thread so posted here.

Hullo Ted.....I was "speaking" with a colleague %) from up the Tyne & Wear way ....  about all sorts of model marine things & one question from this is was the suggestion that I ask ....  >>:-(

...'would you be kind enough to post a few snaps of the 'Nattier' boiler prior to the encasement in the steel insulation & in the vessel'  ;D

Naturally I use the term "speaking" in the colloquial way as via e-mail ....20,000 km away   {-) .....you may even know this member  O0

I know  :-))......many Mayhem members await your further postings on the build & [steam] engining detail of 'Nattier' .......Derek

Hi Derek,
I presume the' colleague  from up the Tyne & Wear way' is that well known reprobate Bryan Young? - I've known him for about 25 years!

Regretfully, the only photos of the boiler I can find in the unclad state are the two that appear in the main tale of Natterer - never thought I'd be telling her story.
However, if there's any specific info you need, then let me know, and I'll do my best to answer (for example, I have all the measurements I took when I bought it, together with all my calculations for strength, working pressure, etc

Huh, now I'm really hurt and more than a little offended. Reprobate indeed. How can you call such a fine upstanding pillar of the community a "reprobate" (well, upstanding is fine when both legs are working).
I think I'll give this topic a miss from now on and preserve my blood pressure. You lot can stick with steam pressure.
    However, talking to Ted yesterday (Friday) we got to discussing the "Kitchin" rudder etc. and I mentioned that many of the Admiralty 36ft work boats were fitted with this arrangement....the gear worked fine, but most of the QMs lost the plot...one actually running over (over) a jetty in Malta and chucking his 50 passengers into the harbour.
I'm sure their must be Mayhem members who recall these things (?). Don't tell me, tell Ted. BY.
