Morning all,
Does anybody know, was there ever a Perkasa painted in any sort of camouflage colours?
I've just bought the Ark Model/Hooben 1/32nd Perkasa, and I'd like to finish it in something other than the paint scheme shown in the instruction manual.
Cheers,
Rich

When they served with the RN as i understood they were all the same standard colour schemes, RN-Light grey above the waterline and RN-Deck green for the deck, White Ensign models are people for these...when they were transferred to the Malaysian Navy they painted them in a camo scheme from 1971 until retirement in '77.

I thought that may be the case, Russ...oh well, it'll make the masking up a whole lot easier.
Thanks mate,

Sorry for the delay Russ...got taken out for breakfast!
Now that looks a better paint scheme, looks fairly easy to mask up as well...think I'll go with that.
Thanks Russ, much appreciated.

Sorry Russ the Perkasa MTB and the Brave class are two distinct classes. The Braves (2) were built for and served in the RN only.
An export version of a more simple design was made by Vospers for several countries. The Malaysian ships were called Perkasa Class (4 ships)
These patrol boats and others made for West Germany, Denmark and other countries were based on a Private Design by Vospers
called the Ferocity.(88ft long and with only 2 Gas Turbines) From this was born the Braves and the export boats.(96 ft long and with 3 gas turbines
turning 3 props.
Hope this clears up confusion as to the two types of patrol boat
