Post by: Andyquick on November 27, 2011, 07:41:40 pm
Hi All
I am about to buy a SOLEBAY kit from Deans and would like any input about the kit or information on RC Systems used.

To a Moderator, H,i Dunno where to post this but I guess you will move it to the appropriate place, thanks

I've moved it to Warships Research in the hope that other members might be able to help you

This may help.  Geoff (Pugwash) built a superb conversion to a Later Battle Fleet Radar Picket from the Solebay.

I built this a few years ago and it made a good model, although there were the usual problems that most Dean's kits seem to have judging by what's been posted on this forum, so take care when cutting the plastic card.

I used five channels of a 6-channel Futaba system, as follows:
two motors (Dean's recommended motors) each independently controlled with ESCs,
two 7.2 v ni cad packs fitted side by side.
a 3" waterproof mylar speaker for the sound system
gun simulator, asdic simulator, destroyer sound, and an amp.
and of course rudder control.

Good luck with the build
