Title: road tyres or wheels
Post by: subs1 on December 11, 2011, 07:38:27 pm
I am  looking for a source of 100mm  dia x 30mm wide  ( 4"  x  1 1/4 " ) tyres for an amphibious vehicle , which is my next project ?
Can anyone point a finger in the right direction . I found one in germany  ( http://www.barnhausen.de/  ) which has the tyres and wheels but they dont want to reply to Emails ( two sent and no reply ) .

Have you thought of using  off road wheels and tyres from a 1/8th scale nitro buggy, 1/10th short course truck or a rock crawler ? I'm not sure what the exact sizes are but they're pretty close to your mentioned dimensions and available at English model shops...huge variety of wheels and tread tread patterns etc,

malcolm have you tried play concepts on colombo st. they are mainly into planes but have some cars etc and if they dont have it they do actually try to help. might be worth a call.  the warehouse might even be worth a look.

Yes checked them oput and acorn , bunnings , placemakers and Mitre 10 who had some red ( yuck ) 95mm wheels with black non trrad tyres . So I have bought 6 to try out .
Guess thats the best I can do at the moment . Next is a small 29mm sprocket to fit mt small chain . Gonna annoy some of our Model engineer guys as I know some of the dissmantlerd a couple of OLD photo copiers yerars ago .
Thanks Malcolm   NZ
