Ok, to start off the idea mentioned in another thread:
Name the song and artist/band the lyric came from:
"No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun"
Ian
-
artist.....Pink Floyd
song.....Time
album....Dark side of the moon
Ali.
-
So don't you have to post the next lyric Ali?
Dave
-
"Hope...is like a lighthouse keeper's beam,
Hope...the master cobbler of our dreams.
For Hope believes in desert streams
The mightiest of stars, the microcosm in a jar,
Vast or small they all revolve on Hope."
-
I was waiting for confirmation but I didn't have some lyrics to hand anyway.
It's all yours.
Ali.
-
Hope By Klaatu From Their Album Hope 1977
see it on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elhTaC6jr88
Dave .............. easy one for Ali
Life goes on day after day
Hearts torn in every way
-
Gerry and the pacemakers
Ferry across the mersey
-
Yes - one of my all time fav's
Dave
-
A really easy one
We're the flowers in the dustbin
We're the poison in your human machine
-
God save the Queen, although its not the version they play at the last night of the proms !!!
This ones by the Sex Pistols :-))
Glenn
-
Yeah As I said a nice easy one.
-
I'll keep it simple if you know your rock anthems;
In my thoughts I have seen
Rings of smoke through the trees
& the voices of those who stand looking
-
Led Zep.... Stairway to heaven....
-
Led Zep.... Stairway to heaven....
Rolf Harris :}
-
Mark was first, I knew it was too easy
-
This is from one of my favourite bands songs....
Through the darkened hours
Were you thinking of me?
A state of sleep
Is what you'd rather be
-
......................... :-))
oops that's been answered
-
Creepshow - The Garden
-
Close enough.... They are actually called The Creepshow.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bp2UHWuf7UY&feature=related
The singer is an absolute babe!!!!
PS we need a drooling smilie!!!!
-
From a classic rock ballad
Hear me grieving, I'm lying on the floor.
Whether I'm drunk or dead I really ain't too sure.
-
When a blind man cries
Deep Purple
-
Someone with taste :-))
-
Even tastier...........
And the night when the wolves cry out,
Listen close and you can hear me shout.
-
From another classic band
That same old crowd was like a cold dark cloud that we could never rise above
john44
-
Pet cemetry - Ramones
Best of my love -Eagles
Next:
Been a long time since I rock and rolled
-
Led Zep
Rock n Roll
-
I fell hook, line and sinker
Lost my captain and my crew
-
Rory Gallagher
A million miles away
next
the slip that brought me to my knees
what if all these fantasies come flailing around
-
The only trouble with this tread is that it's too easy to look the lyrics up.
Ali.
-
Well Ive not tried to look any up. Product of a sad anorak existence quoting them and film script extracts to a workmate for more years that I care to remember.
-
Ali
Maybe the hard part is not answering but is coming up with a good lyric to post when you do answer?
But yes, better if people don't look them up.
My daughter has been suggesting Slipknot lyrics - but I can't understand a word they scream, far less spell it.
For those who haven't heard them - I really wish I was you.
Dave
-
A lot of lyrics don't scan, are illiterate or appear to have been influenced by the ingestion of exotic substances...
Bring back Kipling.
Colin
-
Yes Colin I see you like his cakes (just like me)!!
Bob
-
the slip that brought me to my knees
what if all these fantasies come flailing around
No idea at the moment - any chance of another line?
.............. and just for Colin
Who hath desired the Sea? Her menaces swift as her mercies?
The in-rolling walls of the fog and the silver-winged breeze that disperses?
The unstable mined berg going South and the calvings and groans that declare it
White water half-guessed overside and the moon breaking timely to bare it
His Sea as his fathers have dared his Sea as his children shall dare it:
His Sea as she serves him or kills?
So and no otherwise so and no otherwise hillmen desire their Hills.
Dave
-
From a more cultured writer of lyrics came this.
A great lord came walking,
Through the forest one morning,
With a weapon in his hand.
-
the slip that brought me to my knees
what if all these fantasies come flailing around
That strikes me as possibly 'Losing my religion' by Oasis.
-

Your conscience will be mine, all mine
