Hello one and all...
I am new here and to Model Boats in general. I have been modelling for some time but my chosen subject to date has been Railways. Up until early this year I was scratch building G scale locos and stock for my garden line. After a modelling break over the summer I have now joined my Dad and started my first Boat. He is a seasoned model boater with several model slipway kits under his belt. His boats can be found http://petesboats.blogspot.com (http://petesboats.blogspot.com)
So just a month ago I purchased a fibre glass hull from Ebay and set to work. The hull is 43" long with a beam of 14" and as per my usual style I am freelancing a model from a collection of pictures. The general theme is a small fishing boat/workboat.
Over the month I have progressed to a basic model which we test sailed yesterday, just to make sure that it was "sea worthy" before investing to much time!
Most of the steps to date have been documented on my blog htttp://rjrmodels.blogspot.com (http://htttp://rjrmodels.blogspot.com)
This is how she looks so far

Welcome to MBM. Nice model. Looks big and powerful judging by the action man at the wheel. It looks like he will need some kind of fishing clothes
Ali.

Top marks for the fishing rods! Very nicely done.
-
Nice one!
Could I suggest though that you'd be better having any rudder linkages inside the boat and under the deck? Although this may be a bit more fiddly, its more scale like and less likely to damage (unless of course it being on the outside in the first place was an experiment!)?
-
I will take your rudder suggestion on board and give it some thought...
In the meantime I have just updated my blog with some additions from the last 24hours

Just out of interest, is this of interest to anyone, I note the thread views going up but am unsure if that is
a) accurate
b) real visits or google crawlers,
I only ask as the thread feels a bit lonely?
-
Yes, I'm reading all the posts - very crisp and very neat work.
Trouble is it's so good I haven't found anything to suggest improving.
Sorry if you felt neglected.
Try posting a photo with a mistake in and the world will pop up to
say hey - there should be seven rivets there ............I'm only joking.
I haven't figured out how that board at the stern is attached though -
or how you might make the fish twitch???
Regards Dave

Without doubt, one UGLY looking boat, and all the better for it. This sort of model stands out on club stands and as the owner of a WWII CHANT Tanker I know about ugly!
Very crisp build and I particularily like the dip down on the bow. Looking forward to its on the water shots :-))
