Title: continuously moving servos

can you get a steering servo to work so if u hold the handle hard over it continues to turn until you release the handle, same going the other way? thinking of ideas to make a working r/c winch, instead of a rudder attatched to the servo, attatch a drum n string so when you push the lever left or right it will wind in or out

You can use a modified standard servo but it's a pain to modify,  >>:-(  >>:-(  but they are available from Ebay and pretty reasonable cost about a fiver each.

I've moved your post here because this an interesting subject.  Detailed info has been printed but it's buried below.

I'm in need of this info to enable me to automate some features on my Gry Maritha. (opening doors and Hatches etc.)

Hi Manx Venture

It looks as if they are just what you are looking for. There is no mention of the deadband in the spec. but as they are designed for the job, it should be reasonably wide. (When I was planning to do the same as you for my Puffer, I tried modifying servos but because the deadband was very narrow, it was virtually impossible to get them to stop completely!)

I ended up taking the circuitry out of the servos, just using the motors and controlling them with ACTion Electronics P44 units. In other words I didn't need the servos at all! (I only stayed with them because I had already mounted them under the winch)
