Lifeboat  FUN DAY - Stevenage on Sunday 29th July 2012

Stevenage MBC would like to invite as many Lifeboat owners to a FUN DAY here at sunny Stevenage on Sunday 29th July 2012.
We are going to set out a timed course to have a go at and maybe one or two boats and body's to recover from the water. ( body's meaning small plastic dolls)
Parking. You can off load your boats 10 meters from the water then park in the main carparks. Cafe on site, limited 240 mains if you need to recharge (4 sockets)
All moneys made on the day will go to the RNLI so a small charge per boat will be applied ( £1 or £2 per boat)
The good news is Slowish IC lifeboats will be allowed on the day, Steam , Lifeboat stations may be set up as long as there is space on the jetty.
All I need know is for you would like to come along just post it here so i can get an idea of how many boats to expect.

We have had a good reponce to or Lifeboat fun day here at Stevenage but more Lifeboats are always welcome.

I have now got 2 dolls and all i have to do is work out how to get them to float feet down so them nice chaps in there Lifeboats can come to there aid. :D

We are going to set out a timed course so we can check out who has got the fastest boat on the day. There will only be 1 boat at a time on the course so there will not be any bumping into each other.

If there is anyone Else out there who wants to take part in our Lifeboat FUN day then get in contact with me. I was hoping Lifeboat Paul ( no lifeboat Paul) was going to bring his Boathouse slipway set up , but he tells me he has sold it . So if there is anyone who has a boat house / slipway lunch setup they are more then welcome to bring it along  for the day. Can you contact me if you have one?
There will be a small PA system on the day so if you want to play out your radio calls and breakdown enactments you again will be welcome.

So far we will have 2 ladies that will need recovering out of the water, a rubber dingy has set off and the crew have swum home but the boat needs recovering. An M shape courses will be set out and we will have to do as many laps as you can in 5 Min's. I have a bottle of bubble for the winner. If anyone Else wants to bring a bottle It could be given to the best boat  on display. any offer will not be refused.

240v mains will be available to charge battery's . You can of load your boats 20 ft from the lake side, then park in the car parks. (freeparking all day)  Its a £1.00  for the day and all the money goes to the RNLI.

We have fingers crossed the RNIL coming along with all there stuff to sell so bring some money with you.

There is a Cafe which opens at 9.30am (So dose the loes) you have been warned. They do a great breakfeat for around £6.00.  It is all due to start at 10.00 am but you can set up from 9.00 am.

There is NO tables so if you want one bring it with you. gazebos are welcome but space is a bit limited so you may need to share as needed.

Our lifesize boat will be in the water to tow in any none working boat that get stuck.

I would like to say what a good day we had today. A Big Thank you to all who traveled to make our 1st Lifeboat Fun day event a great day. Stevenage MBC members  for all there help during the day. THANKS :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
Andy has got lots of Photos which I hope he will post up here some of the best pics.
OK so what did we do ??? Two fair maidens was rescued from the water , To tins of Fosters where sent out and one was fully recovered so Jim could have his lunch time pint. A little rubber boat was pushed around and lost a few time up the Bank side. I ran my Honda Arun boat and we had a demo from our fast electric member. There was a very good selection of Lifeboats both on show and on the water. We had two steam boats on the water as well . So much time goes into making these boats and it is so good to see them on the water, Fantastic  :-)) :-))

Would we do it again next year?? YES give me a week or two and we Will short out a date around the same time next year.

One other thing We made just over £120 which will be on it's way to the RNIL this week.

A lass called Charlotte picked out the raffle tickets for us. MR Dave Shaw won the wine gums and them handed them over to Charlotte for drawing the tickets. Thanks Dave. your a star :-))
