Title: RCMP ST.Roch
Post by: Farmall1 on January 21, 2012, 06:56:45 pm
Good day, building my first wood model boat. (cabinetmaker by trade). I am building the Billings St. Roch. My question is , when I apply the planking do I do one side at a time ,or put both halves together and apply lefts and rights alternately ? Any input is welcomed .
Thanks in advance Martin :-)

Hi Martin,

the general rule of thumb is to plank port then starboard then port then starboard etc. Of course you could do starboard then port then starboard then port etc :)

Hey, i believe this is one of those billingskits that you build one half at a time. I've built one, you secure the keel to a building board and plank. Then you do the same to the other side and then you glue them together. Works really well, helps you get a straight nice hull. Good luck!
