Title: Various Models
Post by: buskerbob on January 24, 2012, 11:54:41 am
My modelling varies . I have made simple and complicated steam engines. Fairground models. The carousel took 20 years to make. Various boats in all sizes. My models have all been scratch built. This really keeps one on ones toes, hunting down suitable materials. One model which I admired was in Bedford Museum and on display some years ago. It was a large spread of agricultrural , fairground and every day items. It was a huge display and had been made in the early to mid 20th century by a council roadman. The various steam engines , reaper binders, tractors etc all rotated. The roadman had no engineering knowledge and no highly sophisticated workshop. He made what he saw in the rural countryside and made everything from old tin cans. Painted them and made a huge display. Obviously the models were not to scale but bearing in mind what he had to work with , it was an admiral collection. I assume it is in the museum's store now.
If anyone wants a challenge, try making The Incredible Elbow Engine
