My son has one as well, Very kindly given to him by Jaydee, we have yet to test it out on a flat run but being close to a few good beaches (NewBrighton) etc I have been told they can easily get up to 40mph.

Annoying thing is we went to NB not long ago on the spur of the moment thing and it was only when we were nearly there I realised we could have taken it , Doh.. %%

Hi all Thanks for looking at our land yachts on jersey model boats.com   I found this site  some time ago thy are cheep to build made out of poly pipe,  Plans can be found on
You tube  under RC POLY PIPE LAND YACHTS,  and we in jersey now have six on the go and boy do they GO, we found you do need wheels with bearings, and its best to have the sails made the same as on the poly pipe site,  cheers and hope you all have great fun as we do,  regards  tony  jersey,

Hello all. Tonysmoke and Roger Hamelin are responsible for this cheap form of racing landyachts . You can see how we built them on jerseymodelboats.com
and we also have some short clips from Las Brayes carpark. This picture below is of my bright pink and red landyacht. we got all the dimentions from Andy Newton
who's format we are following in jersey. As tonysmoke has said this weekend 5/2/12 we will have 6 racing so I will try to get some more pics or clips for
you and to put on you tube. I have posted picsof every step of the way so have a look.

Has the Jersey Model Boat website shut down?, as I joined it so I could ask about Dimensions of the Land Yachts, but it says there is no news and to come back later.
So, I can build one from the photo but, I would be nice to build one to your dimensions, can you help please.

Thanks,

If you send your details to [email protected] this should include the way you will be signing in and your password only to our site and I can do a quick user entry for you and I will let you know straight away bud.  DickyD  Please can you sign up again as I deleted your details by complete accident. You can do one of two things, firstly you can sign up again or you can join up using the way as Len is going to do  it. Thanks Tony for your kind comments and remember you started this lot off, and its the members who make the site.
This weekend we will have 6 ready to have some fun racing around the carpark.
Their are 3 more under way on the rock so one day we will have 9 joining in the fun. I will post some pictures
and youtube clips on Jersey model boats on sunday night and maybe here.
We are thinking of making some T-Shirts up for the summer and would like some ideas on what to print.
If you know of any cheap T-shirt printers around your part of the country please let us know  :-)).
Thank You

Lance, colour blind people cannot see black writing on a red background. ;)

I'm assuming that is what is on the red strip. {:-{

think it would be better if we could all have some guiding dimensions , ive found the wheelbase and track , and another for the mast height , however ive not bee able to find any reference as to where to position the mast ?  from the interest shown here we could have quite a number of them on the mainland ! jon

I had mine out yesterday in a Car Park, its difficult to find an empty one near me, the one I used was block paving and had a slope to it.
I have changed the front wheel for a smaller one and need to cut down on the steering servo travel to stop the front wheel jamming on full lock.

Hi Len good to here yours is on the go, its a matter of adjust and adjust again till its right for you, i find a small front wheel works for me, mine is a nose wheel off a plane, model that is, we were on the beach sunday as la braye car park was closed for rally cars on a time trial thing, but it turned out best on the beach more room for the yachts to run, regards tony

Hello all, me hear. Great weekend on the beach at Ouaisne in jersey and I have posted a youtube clip on the site or go straight to youtube and type in polypipe or gallifamily and you will get all the local clips i have posted. If you join the site I will try to answer any question you have asap or just post your question here and me or Tonysmoke and other members will help you out. Again I hope you are having as much fun as we are having at the moment on Jersey. The beach is better for getting more people involved as the public use the beach more then standing around in a car park.  :-)) Here is the sail size straight from the horses mouth as they say or is it Andys mouth in Aus, remember it is all in CM not inch's good luck and it works .  ;)

thanks for the sail plan/ dimensions , im slowly gathering the peices together to build one myself , ive got the main body as a very kind trades person threw out a length of 32 mm & a length of 40 mm polypipe last week , ive got two lengths of 7mm carbon fibre tubing but both are only 900mm in length so may need to step them ? ?  just need a couple of pipe ends an angle and the clip to form the axle , how do they perform with standard servos as opposed to using the beefier sail arm servos ? jon

Post by: tonysmoke on February 23, 2012, 07:48:18 am
Hello mate your well on your way with parts, i think for the sail you will need the power and beef of a big sail servo, its all down to power of the wind, works for us no problem,
hope this helps Jon, regards tonysmoke jersey

Hi Triumphjon,
Use the larger size pipe as it will take a 4pack of AA batteries, and you could maybe get away with not using a 45degree bend by drilling the pipe at 45 for the steering column.

Hello all, it me again. welcome triumph jon  more of a Suzi GSX  O0 1400 man myself. I have changed our wheels to the in-line 120mm as they seem to be a good all rounder. Andy who designed the ones we are using has used the smaller wheel as the centre and found that the trolley wheels screwed onto them works well, if you have a look at his clip on our site jerseymodelboats.com he can explain it a bit better then I can. Big Ada like the colours I like by the looks of things as mine are now bright pink he he he. We are thinking of having some t-shirts done soon to advertise Polypipes across the channel islands. No wind this weekend Sun 26th 2nd as the island has been closed due to being fog bound so wind stayed away at the same time. I hope this blog is helpful to you bud and its nice to hear from members from the uk who are having fun as well. Keep it up and remember if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask Cheers Chaps

Thursday 8th on the beach at la braye, six of us met with our ploy pipe land yachts ready to go, light winds and sunshine, Wow some of them went so well, now we are getting the hang of them, the beach is best as less things to bump into as on wed 7th high winds in car park and lots of wheels flying about and yachts on there sides, A big thank you to
Andrew newton for the  use and his design and  comments ,  also thanks to lance for all his hard work on JERSEY MODEL BOATS .COM
