I'm looking for a pair of Davits about 90mm high. Can anyone recommend a supplier please.
Model suppliers that I use always seem to be out of stock.
Thanks.......

There are quite a few different davits that have evolved over the years.
We really need to know the type you require or at least the model you
are building.

Hello Ned,
This is the boat that I am working on its called a Cynette and here also is a plan drawing of the type of davit suggested.
The Davits are for lifting on and off the dinghy which sits beneath the davits here. I have started making the dinghy
but plans for it are very sketchy but it is progressing sort of.
Thanks

Well,
Lets try that again - plan drawing of Davits - should have gone with my last posting? (http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x460/SeaScout1/Davits18-2-12002.jpg)

Hi Looks simple enough to make, Get one knitting needle & file it down to the taper you require. Nemesis

As Nemesis says an old knitting needle or two if you need a pair of davits.
Once tapered put in boiling water and when pliable bend to the correct shape
and let them cool.

Yes, you're right , it does look quite do-able with knitting needles! No pulley sheaves though, which look good,
but something to consider- thanks to you both...

Have a look on this site for pulley blocks.
There are others if you do a search but
I have used this guy.

Hi ,
easy scratch build , take one styrene rod taper down to required dimensions , trace template of drawing onto thick card soften styrene in hot water , use air dryer,
bend round template, let it cool to shape , punch some small circles out of styrene sheet for pulleys and rope guides . fix to washer base , paint add cable rigging .
i use shirring elastic give it a try be surprised what you can do and also save money.........Larry...

Hi Larry,
I can see from all that work you have done on your boat that you are a
pretty dab hand at making your own parts!
Thanks for the tips.
