I have a Permax 400 7.2v motor. The connection tags are clearly marked + and -. Would it hurt the motor, or seriously reduce it's power, if it was connected with the polarity reversed. I know that this is what happens when a boat is put into reverse, but that is normally only for short periods of time.
Cheers, Terry.

Should be no problem, its what you do when using left and right handed props.

The marks are there to give you some clues as to which direction will turn, depending on the way round that you offer power. Like DickyD said, its useful when setting up multiple motors.

Many motors do run slightly more efficiently in one direction than the other.
