:(( :(( the wife said i have to get rid of some boats ive got 20 in different states of repair how do i pick which ones to sell off i think it might be easyer to get rid of the wife {-) {-)
-
Get rid of the ones that are least complete, or in my case get rid of all of them and start again ;)
-
I find that I get favourites, these can change as the others get worked on, but the ones I use the least or just don't feel the same about go first.

well hi there
the trick is not to sell any models - or cull em - first of all:
Have your tried a slight persuasion method to the better half - say - you know that job you want doing (the one you never got round too) or the blouse she really likes - say WELL BUY IT darling, as long as I can keep me models.
The other alternative is, we have to teach you how to become very secretive - so you can hide models around the house %% I know cos I have 12 in the loft O0 O0 %% really you know, we should have a Course run by Mayhem called 'How to be deceptive in hiding models and equipment and where is the best place to hide them' 8) 8) :-X
I know in the past, I have myself sold models - but you know what I have regretted selling one or two of them - and have even sold one that I rebuilt :embarrassed: but it did go to a good home :-))

Take your second option tugs62 get rid of the wife, you can then have as many models as you like. You can also be the boss like me; my wife gave me permission.
-
I am only newly back into model making. My wife has been very supportive of my first aquisition, giving me something to do after cutting my hours down on reaching retirement age. The second, and even the third builds were not opposed. However, I can see myself gradually building up a fleeet if I am not very careful, by which time the Public Accounts Committee will start applying pressure to reduce Naval expendature.
Suggest you transfer some boats that never got completed or that you have moved on from, then consolidate anything raised to start a new challenging build that will keep you involved for some time. That way you can be seen to have reduced the 'perceived deficit' whilst increasinhg the quality and enjoyment.

I have opened a home (small shed) for unwanted boats
- these 'rescue' boats need sponsors.
For £3 a month you can recieve a photo and a message
from an ugly build or a corroded hull (saltwater at Fleetwood {-))
I'll never put a homeless hull to sleep - so send them to me

Anyone done a count on the Motors, Servos. and R/X's that are sitting on the shelf under these miniature masterpieces ?.
{-) {-) {-) {-) {-) {-)

I have loads of servos and motors but never have the right size one when I need it.... Ususally at 9pm on a saturday night lol
-
i dont let her open the draws with motors and servos in this all started cos she found 2 hulls on top of a cupboard in her laundry room {-) {-) {-)
-
I can sympathise with you the future Mrs Jones came into my inner sanctum the other day and announced quite calmly, well if you GET rid of those shelves I then could use the space for my jewelry making If i repeated what i said to her on here it wouldn't be a month ban it would be a LIFE ban.Well she the came out with a classic well you can sell some of your boats as you cant use them all at the same time.Well I changed the lock today lol to a proper security lock so she cant get in and hidden the keys.Trouble is she also said OH by the way i have found your SECRET hiding place as well...........................HA HA she doesn't know about the ones in my work lol.....And be warned SHIPMATE 60 don't even think of telling her.

Dave,
One thing I have learned is NEVER to come between man and wife (or betrothed).
Especially a man that is batting way out of his league!!!
Bob
-
Have you pointed out to her how many pairs of shoes she has, how many bags, how many dresses, and in how many sizes she keeps as she says just in case I REST MY CASE SIR.
Regards Howard.
-
I would love to see YOU do that %% {-) {-) {-) {-)

Sometimes a few have to go, but that's my choice. My defence is firstly that they don't eat anything (although the woodworm recently found in an old Aerokits do!!) Secondly they will always have a value and if we ever need to raise a few quid then we will be grateful they are there O0

If you put a leg chain on your missus in the first place, one that allows her to get to the kitchen sink, the washing machine, cooker and ironing board but not long enough to poke her nose into your workshop she won't actually know how many boats you have, problem solved :-)) {-) {-) {-)

i currently have three stored in our front room , three in the hallway and another three in the bedroom that are either in build or awaiting work , trick being two of the models belong to my partner ! this way it keeps her happy too ! !
-
Howard i tried that one the answer was there in the wardrobe and i might fit back in them one day i did nt have the guts to say NO CHANCE LOVE <*< <*< so going to try and keep her happy and put some up for grabs at weekend the hulls that i dont think i will ever do any thing with anyway
-
the hulls that i dont think i will ever do any thing with anyway
That's great - keep talking the price down :D

Got a shiney
Halfcrown SWmbo
says I can spend
Wotyergot?
Ned

All I can assume is that our MoD must have a very effective and thorough SWMBO as the number of surplus and unwanted Navy hulls is continually being reduced. Obviously most are far too large to hide in the atic or greenhouse.
-
Im getting it in the neck about my fleet laying about the place.
I would sell them, however it then brings the argument of how much your going to get for the model, versus what has been spent on the model.

I have a "toys" storage area. As long as the toys all fit in that area then I can do what I please
But do see my for sale thread for 2 unbuilt kits that have to go to make room for a new aquisition

see my for sale thread
