Anyone watching the new series of Wheeler Dealers? what a lot of work involved in the restoration of the Morgan +4, which included a new chassis. In previous episodes I liked the Lotus Elan, Beach Buggy (and now the Morgan) restorations.
Which did you like and why?

I think I've seen them all, I'm a great fan. The episodes I don't like involve beemers and porshes they seem to me to be the most boring to me. I much prefer British cars, although the American car series was good. The Bentley was a great restoration and yes I did enjoy the Morgan.

I believe I have seen all the programmes that have been shown. I enjoyed the DeLorean project. What a lot of work was involved in the repair of such a small dent and that had to be carried out by a professional. Alan

I could watch the mechanic (Ed ?) all day, with me saying 'so that's how you do it ! ' nearly every episode. I find his wheeler and dealer oppo a bit hard going though, his patter is too same-same all the time.

Love Wheelie Dealies and watched every series from the beginning including the repeats.
But I found the morgan programme very disappointing. It was just a disassembly, fit new frame and re assemble. Now I know that's not an easy task but to me, it doesnt sit right with the ethos of past programmes to take a vehicle and put right its numerous problems.

The Beach Buggy would look good on Cleveleys Beach though 8)
Whilst on the Fylde Coast and on a more serious note, the Classic Car Show (outdoor event) at Lytham Hall looks worth a visit on the 12th August.

Apart from his method of using 2 hammers to seperate ball joints..... I have never been able to get that to work! <*<
They never factor in Ed's time in the workshop, so as a business model I'm assumimng he is a lottery winner and does the work out of the kindness of his heart :)
There is also a Swedish version

still car related but slightly off topic. there was a discovery series on a few years back about a guy (i think he was a vet in real life) who restored cars, 4wd's etc. cant remember the name of the programme but hopefully someone will and be able to say whether its still showing. that was a brilliant series/

Indeed, if you were to factor in his labour costs they would never in a million years make a dime profit {-) But I suppose that's a bit of artistic licence to make what is an enjoyable series. In a similar vein every time his oppo drives back to Ed's shed with his latest car, there is no mention of what happens to the car that he drove up in ! {:-{ Maybe he just scatters them around the country O0

When Mike built the E-type jag it cost him £65,000 to restore the car including buying it at the time he could have bought a restored one already done but that was not what the series was about :-)

i watch all these shows and also chop shop when it was on , wheeler dealers is by far the best though the lotus elan episode being my fav , but i do think edd china has a massive addiction to satin black lol
-
The series is back on and my machine is copying them again !!!!! (The Tivo box, from Virgin, has decided what I'd like to see again)
Each episode seems to deal with a different mechanical problem which can be a good education in car repairs. Ed China is actually behind the cameras in the management side as well. A very good show indeed and very informative.

I also enjoy the wheeler dealers series , but not for long as i have just cancelled my sky sub's , i just was not watching enough to warrent paying £26. a month.
But the one i enjoyed was the american series where they sorted the chevy pickup , such a beautifull motor , simple yet does the job .
That sort of vehicle would be my dream should i win the lotto , or if any one want's to invest in one for me :D .

we are being ripped off by sky downunder. i pay the equivalent of £35 a month for basic sky (no movie channels). back to a previous post about the E type rebuild costing £65,000. i wonder whether mark evans actually paid that or if discovery put up the money.

A new series of Wheeler dealers is currently being advertised, not sure when it starts but it will be soon ...and no I didn't win the Jaguar XK8 from the last series even though I did make space for it in my garage!
