Title: Mystery Model
Post by: oleonepace on April 01, 2012, 07:22:46 pm
Hi All
I'm new to model boats and new to this forum. I've recently acquired a model which I'm struggling to identify. Any help you can give as to what type of boat it is and perhaps, if it is a kit build, who the makers are, would be most appreciated. The hull is fabric covered onto a wooden frame and with a very heavy flat keel.
I [hopefully] attach an image.
Thank you so much.
Tony

looks like a thames barge to me. Flat bottom and side lowering stays for when the bot bottoms at low tide.

Hi Tony

Here is the Will Everard for you to consider if similar http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/billing_boats_will_everard.html

I would vote for a small Dutch botter. The sprit sail is not the most common but the round ended lee boards are typical. I think it's a mix.

Thank you both for your kind responses.

My own feelings are that it is a Dutch style.

Thanks again
regards
Tony
