I'd like some suggestions for suitable motors for Fleetscale's 1\72 scale Type 42 please. Im not looking for brushless at this stage as I'd expect these to be around 40 quid each? So, I need to consider brushed motors.
I know FS have a range of motors but would like to consider other options
-
MMD 777's seem to be the most used by the Warship builders.

Our 755s are also to be recommended.

Ah, right. Was looking at your 555 but you reckon the 755 is better? Lower current drain and better torque?
Sorry, shipmate, who are MMD? Who are they?
-
Model Motors Direct, but I have to say that my choice would be the ACTion motors.

If you are using scale running gear like G. Sitek's you only need about 5000 revs for roughly scale speed.

No. Slightly more current but a whole lot more torque. No Load Speed is approx 6500 @ 12v. The other consideration is the free shaft length - I have seen 777 motors with shafts only about 6mm long. Not easy to find a coupling which will fit on this little stub. I gather that MMD buys them with pinions attached and just saws the shafts off to remove them............but that's only a rumour....... %).

Yes Dave..that is a rumour.....
MMDs 777 motors come with a plain brass coupling section already attached, however I don`t think they are available anymore.
He told us at Haydock last year he would`nt be getting any more after his present stock was exhausted.
The warship guy`s in Scotland then bought up everything he had at the show %%
