Does anyone know if its possible to obtain rubber channel material for beading around
windows.
My boat has damaged beading pushed into the window openings on the plywood superstructure
which I would like to replace. The glazing sits on the beading and is secured on the inside.

Hi, A long way around your problem is to make a mould & make it in silicone, Nemesis.

As you can see the rubber beading does not look too good.
I would be very pleased to find a source to replace most of it. Slightly
larger size on the windscreen.
I'm hoping someone is familiar with this beading style.

Hi, after seeing the boat another way is to get plastic covered wire & slit it down the length with a scalpel, withdraw the wire & slot the plastic U section over the frame, Nemesis

Yes, I think that may well be the easiest method and quite do-able.

Hello
Know it's a long time ago but I used to use silicone fuel tubing of various diameters split with a small pair of nail scissors (safer than a scalpel) and then used either silicon sealant or cyano to secure it to the frame.

I tried stripping cable for the outer covering but it hasn't been that successful
it doesn't take small radius bends too well.
Have contacted C.O.H Baines (earlier suggestion) and they are sending a sample
93p per metre. £10 min order charge tho.
Worth a try I thought.

I received the sample from COH Baines, very good of them and so quick,
but it was too chunky. It fiited over the ply and formed round the window frame nicely
but rubber section was just that bit too thick.
I think the Ebay listing was also too big.
Chatham Dockyard models is supposed to have some I am informed,
so a visit down there shortly.

You might like to consider this glazing strip, very neat and unobtrusive, not a bad price either. The glazing needs to be the same size as the opening. I have used it on all my scale helicopters with excellent results.

Hi Paul,
Now that looks much more promising.
In the Technical description it refers to "the 'S' section".
It looks very much like a simple U section in the picture to me?
Can you describe it please.
I wouldn't necessarily put perspex glazing in the channel
but I would glue the perspex window on the inside up against the beading.
Have you seen the pictures further back?
