She looks very nice Gra2. Well done to you.

What scale is it please and can you post pictures of the props in situ. I would like to know their diameters and how many are motorised please.

I was building this model at 24th scale and find there's not much room under the hull for any diameter above 30mm.    :o     I wanted to go surfing !!

Regards

ken

Hi Ken,

Scale is 1/24 and all four shafts are powered.I used Raboesch props at about 36 mm diam. I will check them and get a photo for you.

Thanks Gra2.  That's my scale, so I am interested in seeing the clearances under the hull.  I calculated mine to be below the hull base line which might look odd.

cheers

This is one of the things that happened to old Fairmiles when they had ended their naval careers. This particular one was converted to what became known as a Roylen cruiser, one of three that operated in the Great Barrier Reef region of Queensland, taking passengers on trips out to the reef. I took this photo in May 1960 while my wife and I were on our honeymoon on South Molle Island.

If the sky looks somewhat unnatural, it's because the top half of the photo, a slide, was badly affected by some sort of a fungus, and I had to use Photoshop to try and clear it up. It is more than 52 years old after all :-). The rest of the photo seem OK.

Thanks Gra2.  Very informative indeed.  I have taken copies and will use them when I fit my new tubes from Marks Model Bits.  I was waiting to fit them as I needed the distance required under the hull, so it's very nice of you to go through the effort of filming yours.   :-))

@ Peter.  That's how boats should be eh.   :}

gra2.......I am over in Adelaide for a few days & been working in the garden & hence had a few glasses of RED ned after work today.......so I may not be seeing correctly  %%

But in the images .......Posted on: Yesterday at 07:03:15 AM ........  :embarrassed:......are each of the 4 x props installed in their correct shaft locations? .....

The 2 x inboard props appear not to be contra-rotating & both R Handed
The 2 x outboard props appear not to be contra-rotating & both L Handed

Or is this unique to the Famile design??..........Derek
