Title: new to boat building all most 50 years old..

Hello to evey1,, its comming up to my 50th birthday and i've asked the family to buy my a couple of model boat kits (i,m not new to modeling as i've build a few railway layouts and painted losts of model boats). has anyone got any thoughts what kits best to buy around £150-200 ...CHEERS Jp  :-))

what sort of thing are you into? military, fishing, pleasure, passenger?

Also are you planning on RC or static?

These will make a huge impact on reccomendations

Also what materials do you like working in, Wood, GRP, ABS? ..... Oh and welcome to the forum, lots of advice here, they'll soon have you broke !..  :-)

Hi Chaps, thanks for getting back so soon no its got to be r/c all the way and I don't mind abs wood, wood with fiber-glass hull and i real like old RN stuff ( ie launches gunboats , not big ships) and old tugs, i've just built a SHG victorian steam launch with my own twist on it, made the plastic seats look like leather and wood grained the decks and i build a kitshack tug a big learning curve  {-)....cheers Jp
