all respected Modellers.. Friends.. this is my new completed PT BOAT, ( Patrol Torpedo Boat), also known as MTBs.. this one is not my first one.. completed many before in various scales.. some lost and some are was commissioned jobs.. so, at present, i decided to add lots of military crafts to my collections.. here is the first.. is scaled to operate with my other completed crafts, is scaled to 2.5 feet.. and yes this one is not a copy of any known craft, and i even not know is there any PT boat in numbered as PT 400.. this one is entirely sctarch built is not on a spare hull or so.. i added some of my imagination here from bow to Stearn.. still managed to keep the aspects of Higgins.. to get the aggressive look.. i started from 0... this time instead of using putty, i used the red oxide powder with wood polish and then sprayed the grey primar all along for even more water proofing.. so, the hull became so light.. here i starts with thermocol block.. shaped..
-
after shaping, i covered it with red oxide.. and started building the boat..
-
progress.. i took about 2 days to complete this craft, while some of the detailing works carried out in bed..
the life raft is made of paper and foam board..
-
testing the positions.. and with oars.. oars are made of papers and metal wires..
-
nice..yes..? yes.. water proofing..
-
painted and in place.. this time i finished her in to deep mid night blue, in to Matt finish..
-
the periphery gun barrets were made of appropriate sized PVC pipes with foam board railings..
-
all wires are taken from a flower merchant, that wont rust.. in place..
-
all torpedo tubes were made of PVC pipes and torpedo head came from glue caps..
-
the machine guns and main guns are made of paper, foam board, and ball point refills.. and at beginning my idea was to add a three axis self stabilizing main gun, at bow, later found least noticeable and waste.. but still i added a simple self leveling barrel in one axis.. this brings the very realism, while craft moves..
-
to see the simple self leveling gun look here.. see how simple it is.. but it is so realistic while in action..

-
now time to water proof.. and sprayed the base coat.. the deep midnight blue.. Matt finish..
-
nearing completion..
the Stearn wheel was made of pins and washer later sprayed to resist the rust..
-
later in place..
-
added all needed meters at instrument panel.. and simple rear view.. and main gun..
-
shell casing was made of cut office pins.. painted in gold and in place.. more realism..
-
she is nice one.. the depth charges were made of PVC pipes..
-
weathering was achieved by dry brushing..
-
simple but effective stand from foam board.. 5 mm thick..
-
now.. lights on.. all L E D s...
-
search light on..
-
from bridge.. and can see the back light of instrument panel.. real live at night..
-
now in action.. patrol my lake shores... :-))
-
various views.. look how aggressive she is..
-
see cool action here.. she is powered by a simple motor and a prop made of aluminum sheet.. the rudder was controlled with a high speed digital 9 gram servo.. soo cool...

all Respected Modelling Friends.. from my above works you can see how simple is to make a craft.. but this time i never say you all its easy, as i know the value of workmanship.. still we can try to make any craft if we have a little patience.. have nice RCying..
-
A brilliant of scratch-building as ever Krishna ! And I hope that your health problems are improving too. :-))
-
thank you Sir.. now i am running on again pain killers.. but no time to sit back.. our Navy is commissioned me again for two years to teach ship modelling to new batch.. and great opportunity again.. still working.. no way to think back.. making models.. up to lat breath.. a million thanks again... sir..
-
Well Krishna, you've just proved (Again) that you don't need a ginormous bank account to enjoy modelling.
Superb effort.
Regards Ian.
-
Great Stuff there Krishna.
Out of intrest and in relation to another thread on here how much would you say in materials has it cost you to make the PT Boat. ?. :-))
-
Yes, Great Stuff there Krishna. Glad you're on the mend and back in the workshop! :-))
-
million thanks Martin Sir.. cant live without making models.. its hard..
"TheLongBuild" Sir, the total material cost to complete this craft to me is about Rs 200/-( 4 US Dollars, if we got 50 Rupees for a Dollar), including the paint.. the paint is NC based, and its cheap.. 20 Rs/- for 150 mi.. as we have radio its not a matter.. the craft was powered by a simple motor, got it as damaged, from a Modeler, later rewinded and perfectised.. the rudder is controlled by a simple 9 gram servo.. working perfectly.. and also getting ample of running time with a simple 2200 mA/H LiPoly battery.. a real patrol craft..
-
once again, thanks for the inspiration respected Modelers..
-
Brilliant. :-))
