Booked!
-
Best show I went to this year by far was at Ellesmere Port O0 :-))
Dave
-
Always a great start to the new season .Really enjoyed the vast range of models around at this year's show. The increase in the number of rc trucks was a bonus for me also.I was disappointed at the small number of traders at this year's event though. Is there anything that can be done to re-kindle their support for this show.
I am not knocking anyone as I am sure it takes a great deal of work for the guys who go to the trouble of organising the show to the benefit of the whole hobby.
Looking forward to it already, your efforts are appreciated chaps! :-)) :-))
Andy
-
Could you give details for booking please.
-
Is the David Owen competition going ahead at the same time?
If it is, what are the details?
Les Jones

what's the David Owen Competition chaps???? :embarrassed: :embarrassed: :embarrassed:
-
Hi Neil the David E Owen competition has been part of the Boat Museum model boat events since the 1980s and is now part of the March event. The competition is to a standard so you can have as many awards of Gold, Silver or Bronze as there are entries providing each model reaches the required standard. The classes are scratch, semi-scratch, kit and modified kit. There is plenty of space for each model, plans and documentation of the build is encouraged. There is also a “loan/ display only” category for those not wishing to enter the competition .

Please don't forget the 'bring and buy'. Make some money selling your models, i think there were about five left unsold last year out of about 50! Also any items that are nautical related will be allowed, fittings, books, batteries, motors, drawings etc. The charge will stay the same as past years for selling, £3.00 an item and no fees after that. Sell a boat for £200, pay £3.00. Accepting items from the Friday afternoon.
-

Hello folks, Im not going to make it down this year, some inconciderate person in the office has got me away at work that week. <*< >>:-(
David
-
I fully understand and support that there will be some form of organisation and set of rules in place for this event but I'm curious how does this show work chaps? Do you have to be part of a weekend long organised club visit/display in order to sail a boat?
What's the protocol involved?
Is the Saturday night sail for invitees only etc.
Just asking for my own info.
Ta, Chris M
-
Hi Chris
MIniSteve and Poll are the best to ask about specifics of the weekend.

Everyone is very helpful when it comes to people wanting to get involved in tug towing and asking questions. iam still fairly new to it as I have been on and off doing it but if it wasn't for the help off the more senior "towers" I wouldn't have a clue what to do! Get yourself down there and am sure you'll get as much help as you need

-
Well, just back from a very enjoyable day out at a show that was very well organised.
Nice models, nicer people O0 I was very good too and somehow I resisted all the temptations of the bring and buy room.
Warspite got my vote for best of show and I'm not even a big fan of the grey boats .... but wow.
Also I liked a couple of boats by Joe Lang of the Liverpool club - a quality dredger and a Girl class tug (I have one to finish). The Liverpool club also had the best accommodation, having armchairs in which they seemed very comfortable whenever I passed by.
Kirklees and Hoylake clubs were in the running for chattiest member ... and the winner is Hoylake O0 but the Kirklees chap who made his own Schottles was a close second .... anyway I''ll catch him again at a Kirklees show ... nice guy.
Had a chat at the lifeboat stand and discovered a thing or two .... but mainly the chat there turned to a few traders getting bad reputations for poor customer service - or commercial suicide as I call it. To quote Mr Darcy "My good opinion once lost, is lost forever." Not many traders is my only complaint of the day really; but Scale Hobbies from Skelmersdale, and the glue guy from Runcorn Shop4glue.com were both there so I spent a few bob. Both top notch traders and ever so helpful.
All in all well worth £3 :}
Dave
-
I all so had a great day as allways
Got a few picture's

Well done to all involved.. O0
-
:} :} :}
-
well i got to say guys ..... thankyou for a fantastic day ..... well worth my drive from west wales !!!!! :-)) :-))
-

-
Hi Neil, pity we didn't get chance to chat but will no doubt catch you again at another show. The aicraft carrier you refer to I think is Gambia Bay built by Stan Reffin on the Kirklees Model Boat club stand, if I'm not mistaken - not bad for a beginner eh?! {-) {-) {-)
H.M.S. Warspite by Colin Vass - well!! ................made me feel like binning me tools! what a beauty O0

-
Can i just thank the Ellesmere Port model boat club for once again putting on what was probably the best show they've done up to now. For such a small club it is a tremendous feat and organising, it couldn't be very easy. It's one of those shows that's not made for profit but for the enjoyment of fellow modellers as can be seen by the sheer enthusiasm of Ellesmeres members. So a big round of applause for these people (come on i can see you, yes you) for kicking off the boating season in great style, I hope there's many more.

Sailorboy, you have a PM
-
Hello.
Any one know the winning numbers of the raffle held at the show ?
Regards
-
Not I, But I assume as long as you gave details you will be contacted, I was as I had won some clamps :} :} you can never have enough clamps.. I must have missed my numbers at the time ..
-
Ref - the raffle.
I know that the sellers of the raffle tickets were noting who bought them but surly for the benefit of those who did not hear the announcements it should be easy to publish a list of winning numbers on this site.
-
Well If I had some raffle ticketts and wanted to know if I had won or not then I would simply contact the organisers and NOT expect the results of a raffle to be published on a forum.
I would look on the organisers website ....if they had one as well.
Dave
-
all winning numbers had phone numbers on them and winners were contacted by the guys running the raffle if i can i will try get the winning numbers for you if that is the norm.
PS Larry the photos on your site look great thanks for uploading them.
Steve

It really was a great Saturday when I was there. The sun was very welcoming after such a dull & miserable week. I would have liked to stay for the full evening but I had 6 trains to catch - yes really - to get home. I only got the last train from Birmingham by the skin of my teeth. The evening hospitality was fantastic & the cafeteria so warm.
I know how much work is involved in organising anything like this and to such a high standard. There really were so many lovely models. I kept thinking that I must have seen them all & then finding another room! The sailing/ towing action made the show so much more interesting than a purely static show.
Great format, lovely models & a really nice setting. Congratulations & thank you.
PS I do hope that made some money for all the effort and that the museum didn't keep it all.
-
Mike or Steve should have posted some Video clips from the Saturday (day time) sailing by now, :-) I would post some myself but don't know how to, thanks to all for a great weekend, p.s don't forget the badge Mike.
-
Raffle posts cleaned up. :police:
-
thanks martin and i hope to be doing some video editing this week john thankyou for the vid mate
steve
-
Can i say that the Bring and Buy had over 50 boats for sale with at least 2/3 rds of them being sold, with boats from £5.00 to £800. Probably the biggest amount of models to date, so all in all the whole show was very spectacular. Can't wait for next year! :-))
-
Can't wait for next year! :-))
Next year my first job is to make sure I am not working that weekend - I missed the evening yet again this year <:(
Dave
-
Count me in for next year - Fantastic show, fantastic people and an absolute 110% top job to all the guys and girls that organised the event. :-))
-
Had a chat at the lifeboat stand and discovered a thing or two ...
One thing we debated was the orange light on a Tamar. We decided that it was to show the boat was taking on water, but we couldn't decide if it was a flashing or steady orange. I asked a couple of lifeboat chaps on here but neither knew for sure. Anyway it turns out that it is called the bilge warning light and it is a flashing orange light. The light will operate even if the boat is moored and unmanned. So if you are building a model you can easily activate that light for real ... but only at your own risk please O0
