within the last 12 hours a model of a 47' lifeboat was stolen from my house, I would like to ask that if anyone knows anything about the theft of if they see it being flogged anywhere could they notify police or send me a pm.
thanks very much.

the boat on the right, it would look exactly as it does in the photo minus the roof which I found on the pavement outside. I believe it was taken away in a car because it is fairly heavy.

Sorry, forgot to say it was in the Kent - Herne Bay Area.

Andrew..........you have obviously notified the police......and the scumbags that nick this sort of thing are usually serial thieves usually motivated by their next "fix"..........so have you suggested that the police test the underside of the roof for DNA and fingerprints...................as it looks as though the scumbags have tried to lift it away by holding the cabin top and it has given way.........just a thought, but if they haven't taken the roof for examination, might be worth mentioning it to the plod.

just to ellaborate on that...........no self respecting modeller who wanted such a model would carry a boat by the nearest hand hold....................got to be a scumbag with a record already who only nicks for money, and not a collecter.

I don't think so... There were DVDs and a laptop nearby, which were untouched, and the roof (and a couple of bits) fell off about 20 yards from where the boat was kept. The stand was left, as were the plans, and the dust cover was neatly removed.

I'd take it to the police for testing..........they might be able to catch the scumbag before he/she ships it on.
If you want to try yourself first though.............stick it into a large plastic bag with a small bowl of cyano ( superglue..........)
tape the end around a hairdryer and put it on..........the heat from the dryer will allow the cyano to attatch itself to the "greese" of the person who handled it...........and voila..........fingerprints.

Firstly, sorry to hear of your misfortune, being burgled.
Secondly, as there seems to be more than one boat theft in recent times, and the fact that the laptop was left behind, it is possible that model boaters are being targeted.
There may be a connection between the recent thefts, that the police may not be looking for.
Perhaps we all need to be a little vigilant.
These are my immediate thoughts.

Do not touch or move a thing if you want the poilce to take evedince from the crime area. You could contamenate evdience or destroy fingerprints. leave it as is till the police turn up.
