Title: NESSIE
Post by: Spindrift on October 23, 2012, 11:45:42 am
Hi every one,here,s one for my friends north of the boarder."Nessie" was built some 15 years ago,from scratch without a plan, just some sketches that l had made.
She is two channel,motor and rudder,(these being the rear flippers).The flippers are also attached to the head through the neck via a mechanism to turn the head so that she
 looks in the direction she is going.Propulsion is in the usual way,(propshaft and propeller).The rest is balsawood treated as you would,sealer, primer,paint ect.
And as you can imagine,is a real wow with the kids.
SPINDRIFT.
PS,keep scratching it will feel better in the end. 8)

Hi Jimmyc, there you are,if there,s more than 1 the species can be saved.And so if l send mine across the channel you never know we could have a lot of little ones.

Our beastie was Jock Ness aka Nessie.   Would you believe we were asked to remove it from the pond because it frightened the kid's. :(( :((       We also had a fibreglass sharks head moored out, which also frightened the kid's.    Unreal.       When we were young (a long time ago) we would have wanted to get out there and wrestle 'em. :} :} :}

Hi guys and fellow mad men,can you imagine nessie n chips after you have wrestled it to the shore.
But then,when l was young, men were men and so were the women.
I,m sorry you had to remove your nessie,did it move on its own or was it just something to frighten the kids.

 {-)   We think the shark broke it's chain and ate nessie, we found only the Tam O'Shanter that it always wore with pride...Here's a couple of the last pics I took of her with my two grandsons :} :} :}

WOW!! The head sculpture is classic, a real talent there! Now, if she could submerge and then surface a few minutes later amongst a group of swimmers..... I am nasty !! %%

Here is my 'NELLIE' (1.1m l.o.a.) an English cousin of 'NESSIE' which I brought to life here in Sussex about a year ago. Her first outing on our local pond was a revelation to the locals and I heard that reports were sent to the Town Hall that we had acquired a great new tourist attraction! Alas, NELLIE had a heart attack last winter and she is still recovering in a corner of my workshop.
