Hi Mayhemers,
I presume that Tyne Models have gone out of business as their website, etc., are no longer available. moderated However, not to worry, I have ordered a 'Holmsider' semi-kit from Orion Mouldings and, knowing the quality of his mouldings, I have nothing to worry about.

Topic tidied up.
First, lets establish is Tyne Models still going?
Yes or No?
-
Thanks for doing that Martin. It looked as though the topic might have got out of hand and I definitely did not want that.

I have now received my 'Holmsider'. Had to wait a couple of weeks but it was worth it - the hull and superstructure mouldings are up to Orion's usual very high standard and the quantity and excellence of the resin fittings can not be faulted - I think that I counted 19 plastic bags full plus the kort nozzle and a dinghy, also excellent drawings, photos and a DVD. Not at all bad for a semi-kit.

Hi Derek I didnt know that Orion Mouldings did semi kits it looks a very interresting project you have there would it be posible for you to post some photos of the fittings when you open the bags as Iam considering this as my next build many thanks Towrope.
-
Interesting you find Orions mouldings to be high quality.
I and my friend both ordered a northumbrian coble hull a few years ago and we both found the hull to be non-symmetrical. It seems to be infact a slightly enlarged version of the enterprise coble as published by my hobby store, but changed slightly to avoid copyright issues.
Not having a pop, only bringing my gripes out to the world as i am entitled to an opinion.
Whilst i certainly wasn't impressed with the shape of the hull, I was impressed at the quality of the GRP construction/glassing itself.
I have yet to try another one of Anth's products, however I can only go off the product ive used. Anth seems sound as a person after meeting him a few years ago at the international model boat show.

Well I for one have had a few of Anths hulls the first being the Holmsider which am making as the Wearsider have always found Anths products to be top notch and like you Dam found him to be a great guy.
Regards Howard.

Hi Derek Still waiting with baited breath was hoping you would have posted some photos of the fittings.
I have checked on Ants web site and the Holmsider is out of stock at the moment but was really hoping
to see some photos of the fittings before i ordered one many thanks towrope and all the best.
-
Hi Towrope,
Sorry about the delay in replying. I have not taken any more photos of the fittings as I did not want to remove them from their individual packets until I reach the appropriate stage in the build. However, I would virtually guarantee that you would not be disappointed wth the quality of the hull and superstructure mouldings or of the fittings - to say the least, they are all excellent. :-)) I get the impression that he makes all of these to order as I had to wait about 2 weeks.

Can somebody tell me if, or not, Tyne Models and Orion are the same outfit.
As far as I'm aware, all the design and prototypes are from Tyne Models. As are the fittings castings.
Yours, confusedly...BY.

Tyne Models and Orion Mouldings are two differant companys as far as I know in two differant towns I think Anth is working with a firm called BP moulding but may be wrong but looking at both sites looks like, Anths making hulls and BP moulding the fittings.
Regards Howard.

As Howard says above, As far as I am aware they are two completelty seperate companys
