Title: RIB kit/fitting
Post by: NFMike on November 24, 2012, 06:58:22 pm
I'm looking for a 'fitting' in the form of a rigid inflatable for a 1:50 scale ship.

I've spent about an hour trawling the suppliers in my favourites - plenty of ships boats and plenty of plain inflatables (and liferafts, etc), but nary a RIB. I'm very surprised.

Does anyone know of one - about 1:50 scale - not crucial; a few inches long basically. Doesn't have to be one piece - I just don't really want to scratch one.

You could try sjbatche on Mayhem.
He does 1:50 RHIB hulls for the Armidale class.

Thanks for the suggestions, but as rottie says I don't want a liferaft.
I'd seen the Gemini but that's what I call a plain inflatable. Brian's one is the sort of thing I'm after, though ideally I'd like the console and outboard for it as well. Looks like a nice moulding though. If there really isn't a commercial unit I'll give sjbatche a pm.

the castings were excellent and relatively cheap.

No, Sirmar don't have anything on their website.

Dicky, that RIB looks just the thing, and the davit thingy is very interesting as well. I've sent Mr Batche an e-mail now; we'll see what it brings me :)
