I am cosidering building this boat as my next build.
Does anyone have any info on this companys kits ,are there any complications that I could look forward to, or are they a "nice" build.
My other builds have been Model Slipways Yorkshireman and Speedline 1/16 severn.
Your comments would be appreciated. Gerard

Have built 4 Caldercraft Kits but never a Sir Kay. The quality or parts, the fit of them and the instructions have varied from one extreme to another One was excellent quality and lovely to build with only praise for it to another which is now out of production that was well...........all the superstructure parts went in the bin they were that bad and rebuilt with fresh ply and plasticard. I put that one down to being a very old design that didnt stand the test of time.

I built my Sir Kay over 15 years ago and it was my second boat. As far as I can remember I had no major issues with it and it certainly does make up into a very nice model. I would point out though that due to the very narrow superstructure access to the inside of the hull is quite limited. I'd say go for it.

Thanks for that ,its good to hear from people who have built it , I think it will be a goer.

there are some small pitfalls gerard to any of the early CC kits, as Frank thought that if you were to model one of his boats then it would be a "fun learning curve".....and that is what you get..........but all problems are surmountable, ...just ask on here if you run into difficulties.......there will be a good number on here that have built Sir Kay inc. myself and we can all help you out of the myre.
