Nice little stocking filler for and sub fan :)

1/400th scale? I'd never see the thing!
-
How long before someone makes a static diving one?
-
I wouldn't hold your breath!
-
There's a challenge for you, Andy!
-
One I am happy to pass on, I assure you.
-
ooh come on its easy Glue it all together fill it with heavy stuff (nuts, bolts, cement) chuck it in static dive all the way to the bottom nobody said anything about it surfacing again {-) {-) {-)
Mark.

Pack it with baking soda, and it'll come back up again too. One trick pony though.

When I was a lad (c1970) we could buy a little grey plastic sub model, just a few inches long, weighted with probably some toxic metal. This came with a transparent hose with a rubber bulb on the end with which to pump air into its 'ballast tanks'. Hours of fun in the bath - I can even remember the sound of it hitting the bottom of an enamel bath - Mum was well pleased!. Maybe you could try something similar - but ask Mum first.
I have been unable to find a picture though.
Or even this?

When I were a lad in the fifties I had a clockwork submarine.
You wound it up holding the prop Put a rubber bung with a periscope in the key hole
and let it go. It dived and stayed dived until the clock ran down
then surfaced again.
I thought it was magic.

I had one like spook and also an Action Man seawolf..... never got that to work properly tho

I once had something very similar, key wound clockwork dynamic diving metal hulled hulled submarine with rubber bung and periscope where you wound it up. It had a few extra embelishments to make it look like Disneys Nautilus, and made about a year after the movie came out. Worked very well.

I remember the free subs that came with Corn Flakes I think. About 40mm long, with a small space on the bottom for baking powder if I remember rightly.

Strange that you sometimes remember such small things from your childhood.

And the little plastic "Frogman" with a hole for the facemask that held an air bubble. Stick it in a pop bottle full of water and make it sink and rise by screwing the stopper tighter and loosening it.
Ref. Artesian diver.
Regards Ian
Amusing coment by the Unda-wunda seller to "Mend" the clockwork motor, Not without a BIG soldering iron and a can of paint.

there was this 1 as well , it used a tablet or pellet that fizzed in water but the tablets were expensive but an alka seltzer tablet broken up worked fine
